París, Francia

Paris, France

I have visited Paris several times, spaced over time. The first was in 1975 I spent a month camped on the banks of the Seine. During those days Spain was tragic days. The Franco pierced moments of great cruelty while exhibiting violent death throes. Had been sentenced to death several antifrancoist militants. Not only in Paris, also in other European and American capitals angered many citizens rose against the new barbarism of the old dictatorship.

Assisting in the French capital to all demonstrations were organized every evening on the Champs Elysees shouting "murderer Franco". At Notre Dame un closure materialized Spaniards in exile. The Spanish embassy sieges were continuous, until one morning, tired, tired ... and violent, the building where the banner hung eaglet was assaulted before the astonished gaze of French gendarmes.

At the dawn of a fateful September morning, the five men were executed antifrancoist killed. Serian last.

A few years later I enjoyed as anyone on the streets of Paris, the Latin Quarter, the central cemetery Pere Lachaise. Seeking the tomb of Jim Morrison, leader of The Doors. But the main purpose of this trip was not the City of Light, but a place further south called Larzac. There an international meeting of leftist radical organizations held trend, at least that was the information I had arrived. But I take a surprise to reach the green countryside where the camps were. They were prepared to spend at least a week. There were delegations from most of the organizations practiced or supported at that time, the fighting in Europe. Under continuous and heavy rain were conducted talks, debates and lectures with content sometimes complex. The police who suspected something, harassed on all sides, even using helicopters, which were stoned when they made low reconnaissance flights.

My last trip to Paris was to attend a meeting of union representatives in the multinational framed where he worked. Companions come many countries under a single employer address. A rich experience I will never forget. I wish to quote the neighborhood where the event was held: Saint Denis. Its mayor, member of the French Communist Party, qualify it as a magnificent host.
